VOICE WALK WITH ME

One next step.
Someone to turn to.

You do not need to have it all figured out. Whether you are unsure where to begin or the first option did not work out, we can help you think about what comes next.

No account, story, or contact details needed. Your choices here are not saved or sent to VOICE. This page does not submit a request or arrange a callback. Calls and browsing may leave records on your device or account.

I have court coming up

A little preparation and company can make the day feel more manageable.

  • Think about your biggest question for your attorney or advocate. You can ask what to expect and who can explain the process.
  • Consider transportation, accessibility, childcare, and someone you would like beside you, if allowed.
  • Think about who you would like to talk with afterward. You can ask VOICE about available support; accompaniment is not arranged here.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I have court coming up and would like help thinking through support before and afterward.”

I’m overwhelmed

You can choose one small thing. There is no checklist you have to finish today.

  • Consider what feels most pressing: safety, a practical need, or someone to listen.
  • Choose whether you want to explore a resource, talk with someone, or pause for now.
  • If you call VOICE, you can start by saying you are unsure where to begin. You do not need a prepared story.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I’m overwhelmed and could use help figuring out one next step.”

Someone I love died because of domestic violence

There is room for both your grief and the practical things asking for your attention.

  • Consider what would help today: someone to listen, help finding practical support, or help identifying questions about the court process.
  • Choose what you feel ready to share. You do not have to explain the details of the death here.
  • Call VOICE to discuss current support options. Our grief-support program is coming soon.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“Someone I love died because of domestic violence. I would like to talk about support for me or my family.”

I need help with an everyday need

It is okay to begin with the thing that is hardest to manage today.

  • Think about one priority, such as food, housing, transportation, or getting to an appointment.
  • If you already tried a service, you can tell VOICE what got in the way without retelling everything.
  • Ask about options and eligibility. Availability and assistance depend on the provider; this page does not reserve or fund services.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I need help with a practical need and would like to talk through the options.”

No one answered

Not reaching someone does not mean your need does not matter.

  • If you want to try again, check the provider’s listed hours and other contact options.
  • If the need cannot wait, explore the immediate-support options below or call VOICE during support hours.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I tried reaching a resource but couldn’t get through. Can you help me consider another option?”

There was no space or availability

A full service or shelter is a barrier, not a failure on your part.

  • You can ask the provider whether there are other options or a safe way to check availability again.
  • Call VOICE to discuss the need and possible alternatives. We cannot confirm shelter openings or reserve a place through this page.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“The resource I contacted had no availability. I need help looking at other options.”

I wasn’t eligible

One provider’s rules do not describe every option that may exist.

  • If you feel comfortable, ask which requirement was not met and whether the provider suggests another service.
  • You can tell VOICE the type of support you need and ask for help exploring alternatives.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I was told I wasn’t eligible. Can you help me explore a different resource?”

I couldn’t get there or use the service

Transportation, access, language, cost, and timing can all get in the way.

  • Consider which barrier you want help with. You do not need to enter details here.
  • Ask VOICE about options that may fit your situation, such as a different location or way to connect. Availability is not guaranteed.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I found a resource, but something is stopping me from using it. Could we talk through that?”

It didn’t feel safe, or I wasn’t ready

You can pause. You deserve support without pressure.

  • You do not have to contact that provider again or explain why here.
  • If you choose to call VOICE, say what contact feels okay and what you do not want. You can also browse safety planning at your own pace.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I’m not ready for that option. I would like to talk about what feels manageable for me.”

Something else got in the way

You do not have to fit your experience into a category.

  • You can bring just the part you want help with to a conversation.
  • Call VOICE when it feels safe, or explore the resources without sharing your story.

If words are hard, you could start here:

“I tried to get help and ran into a problem. Could you help me think about what to do next?”
